What is Booz Allen?
Booz Allen is a global firm that specializes in consulting, analytics, digital solutions, engineering, and cyber. While I was at Booz my two main clients were the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Special Communications Mission Solutions (SCMS). The example below is a prototype I built for NSF using Axure that was used for a usability test.
My Involvement
National Science Foundation (NSF)
I was the Lead UX researcher, designer, and manager for NSF’s internal enterprise application, MyNSF. I conducted all user research and usability testing. I also managed UX strategy for three work-streams within the MyNSF software development team.
One project I took on after work was researching industry best practices and standards. I used that information and created a set of guidelines that NSF adopted, socialized, and applied to all of their applications. This ensured consistency across applications. Finally, I educated NSF on all aspects of UX and how they could adopt a leaner approach to research and testing to allow for constant iteration.
Special Communications Mission Solutions (SCMS)
I conducted a research study to implement a data reporting/analysis platform for SCMS applications. I designed an inventory application to manage components of military technology, such as satellites. I created a web-hosted persona library that was ever-changing due to roles constantly evolving within the organization.
Due to an agreement signed with Booz Allen as well as confidentiality agreements I signed with my clients I cannot showcase my work on this site, but I am happy to meet to discuss it more.
